Teaching PSHE at Templars Primary School
Our tailor-made PSHE Curriculum Intent was created to underpin everything your child does at Templars Primary School.
At its heart is the theme of “Belonging”. We belong as a member of our class. We belong as a member of our school. We belong as part of our local community. We belong within the wider community of Coventry and West Midlands.
This is further built upon through the teaching and learning of our core Templars Values:
- Care - we care for each other and our school environment
- Respect - we follow instructions from an adult
- Honesty - we always tell the truth
We want your children to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. Our PSHE Curriculum Intent helps your children to stay healthy and safe, while preparing them to make the most of life and work.
We recognise and understand the importance of PSHE, and as such it is taught weekly through discrete, ring-fenced sessions. Each lesson will cover one of the three core themes of PSHE:
- Health and Wellbeing - how to develop and maintain physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing
- Relationships - how to develop and maintain a variety of healthy relationships, within a range of social and cultural contexts
- Living in the Wider World - how to develop and maintain respect for self and others, and the importance of responsible behaviours and actions
