In Year 3, as part of our History lessons pupils learn about Stonehenge and the religious beliefs they held about life. During the Neolithic period, communities were formed as people started to settle, therefore learning about collaborative living. Also, children study the Greek Legacy that has been implemented in our own country. They develop their understanding of the birth of democracy and tolerance of different belief systems such as the Greek gods. 

In lessons such as Art, DT and PE, the pupils learn to show mutual respect and work together on exciting activities such as cookery and investigating healthy eating. In the summer term, pupils learn about teamwork and mutual respect through studying leisure activities from the past. They are taught to appreciate varying cultural arts and celebrate the differences.  

During our PSHE lessons the children are taught the value of respect through recognising there are different types of relationships and families. We also focus on belonging to a community where we are educated on the rules, laws, rights, freedoms and responsibilities of wider society. 

Through our English curriculum and the texts that we study, our children explore individual liberty though their own personal development in writing for different purposes. We use a wide range of non fiction texts to develop our comprehension skills based on topics such as: renewable energy resources and global warming. These texts help us to learn about respecting diversity and the world in which we live in.
