If you wish to report a possible case of bullying, Headteacher, Mrs Benarous is the designated lead for bullying and also a safeguarding lead. You could also let your teacher and any Anti-Bullying Ambassador know who will pass on your worries to Mrs Benarous

Templars’ No-Outsiders Statement  

We want Templars to be a place where everyone feels safe. We want to celebrate that everyone is different, and show that everyone is welcome.

We want everyone to know what we think about bullying:

  • No-one should be made to feel like an outsider because of their race, colour, gender or ability
  • No-one should be made to feel like an outsider by name-calling
  • No-one should be made to feel like an outsider by physical bullying
  • No-one should be made to feel like an outsider in any way at all

It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that there are no outsiders at Templars.

What is bullying?

Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group where the relationship involves an imbalance of power

It is…

Physical Abuse – pushing, punching, hitting, kicking, tripping or damaging someone’s property

Verbal Abuse – name calling, teasing, insulting or making racist, homophobic or disablist comments

Cyberbullying – sending rude pictures or abusive messages over social media, online games and phones

Sometimes bullying is hidden and can include – lying, spreading rumours, mimicking others, staring or giving menacing looks, creating false friendships to use others to do the wrong thing, ignoring and encouraging others to ignore, playing jokes to humiliate

Bullying is not having the occasional, or ‘one off’ falling out, quarrel or fight with others. We look for 3 elements:

1. The behaviour is repetitive

2. The behaviour is intentional

3. There is an imbalance of power between those involved

Bullying is not acceptable at Templars’ Primary School and will not be tolerated

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors 

We will be looking to recruit some new Ambassadors this term to join our team. If you are passionate about making sure there are no outsiders at Templars and spreading the anti-bullying message, please draw a picture or write to Mrs Benarous with your thoughts and messages. 

We will be taking part in Anti-Bullying week in November

Templars’ Anti-Bullying Approach  

All complaints and reports of bullying will always be investigated.

All pupils are expected and encouraged to report instances of any behaviour which contravenes the Templars’ No-Outsiders Statement.

We take a no blame approach. The aim of our approach is to bring about a lasting solution to a social problem, not to punish bad behaviour. Any solution or agreement between parties must comply with our No-Outsiders Statement.

Admissions of wrong actions and mistakes, together with apologies and firm assurances about future conduct and appropriate ‘restitution’ measures (if appropriate) are required. Any such assurances apply anywhere and everywhere, in and out of school. Any breach of an assurance is serious and may result in a formal discussion about whether Templars is the school for you.
